19 days..

19 days & counting...Where has the last year gone??  19 days… that’s how many days are left until Joshua’s first birthday.  I still can’t believe it.  The chunker is up to 20 lbs & almost 2.5 feet tall.  Lately he’s been dealing with some new teeth (I just ran in to put his pacifier in his mouth) and we haven’t been sleeping all that much.  Nothing like watching Baby Einstein at 2:00am!  But he’s a trooper.  During the day (at least when I see him), he’s smiling, crawling all over the place, touching what he shouldn’t, testing his limits, and pushing his mom to hers!  But what can we say – we love the kid!  We know God has great things planned for him… much more than his father or mother has done.  And we’re learning to just enjoy him every single day because we know we can’t get these days back.  Isn’t parenthood great!?

Enjoying the inflatable slide

On May 1st Hearts in Action Church celebrated our second annual Festival Like No Other (Festival Ya No Ya).  And boy did we have a blast!

We had a big inflatable game for the kids, a trampoline, other games where they could win clothing and other prizes, face painting, manicures, playstation, a kids show – and best of all – FOOD.  We offered Chicken and Rice, Anticuchos (AN TEE COO CHOSE – We won’t tell you what it is but we’ll make you try it when you come!), Causa (COWSA – A mixture of potato, chicken, mayonnaise, avocado), and Picarones (a Peruvian style donut)!

So why a festival?  It’s not like we need another activity!  We want to reach the families of those around the church and sometimes they won’t come to a church service.  We saw probably over 200 people come to the festival.  We believe seeds are being planted and harvest time is coming!

A Saturday Morning with Joshua…

Josh & his dad

It’s just me & Josh from about 10am until 2pm (his mom has a meeting with some women from the church).  This Sunday, he’ll be 8 months old already.  And as usual, we take him to the doctor on Monday!  At least this time he doesn’t have a vaccination scheduled.  So later today we’ll head over to my in-laws & then I’ll go pick up the car (which has been in the shop since Monday night).  I hope they fixed the problem.  Then we’ll see what the rest of the weekend holds.

Hope you have a great weekend!!
