Home for the Holidays…

Did you say snow?

How incredible is God?  In our newsletter (if you happened to read it!), we had said we WERE NOT coming home this Christmas… but God opened the door, someone blessed us with plane tickets, and we will be home on the 27th of December for a little over 2 weeks!!  We are so excited.  The cool thing about it is that Alida’s sister & niece a here from Switzerland.  They arrived at the end of November.. so with things working out the way they did, we’ll be able to be with them for nearly the duration of their time here!

Christmas Peruvian style (at least the style of my wife’s family) is that at midnight on Christmas Eve, we eat a big meal together.  Then everyone opens presents after dinner (around 1am-2am), and we all go to sleep around 3am-4am.  Everyone sleeps in (except those with kids!) and they we all eat a late lunch together.  Then we ‘ll be with them in the afternoon & head to the airport at night.  And looks how God does things.  I call my family & I find out our big family Christmas (around 40 people) is on the 27th!  So we’ll be home in time & the whole family will get to meet Joshua!

We hope many of you will get to meet him too!  Not sure how much travelling we’ll do since it’s a short trip, but many of you are close anyway!

Just wanted to share our joy with you all.  We love you & we look forward to seeing you soon.

  3. That is sooooo great! I’m happy for you and for us to meet your little cutie. He growing so fast. It will be nice to see Alida & you again, maybe we’ll get to have lunch one day. Her family tradition is the same as mine growing up; such good memories. Enjoy your time with her family and we’ll be praying you get his passport without a hitch!

  4. So you and Chad have a lot in common ! I have been telling him for the past 15 years that Christmas Eve celebration is a Peruvian custom. Now I have someone to back me up and Chad has someone he can share the experience with :-) it is definitely exhausting…especially with kids. However it is all worthwhile, our kids love it! Feliz Navidad!!!!
